The Status of Osteopathy:

Osteopathy as a Health Service


Osteopath professionals play a vital role in delivering diagnostic, technical, therapeutic and direct health services to improve people’s health and wellbeing.


One can seek osteopathic treatment for arthritis, back pain, headaches, joint pains, reproductive system issues, digestive issues, and postural problems. Treatment can also assist with sleep cycles and various symptoms of the nervous, circulatory, pulmonary and lymphatic systems.


The blend of hands on approach and drugless therapy in Osteopathy is a radical element in the field of health services.


Status of Recognition


In India, although osteopaths  at present are not government registered allied health practitioners but the pioneers are trying to get it registered for those who complete training from OCO, Canada in anatomy, physiology, pathology, general healthcare diagnosis, and osteopathic techniques are recognized as Osteopaths. The mandatory minimum qualification is Diplomate.


The Osteopathy India vision is that the osteopaths role in primary health and multidisciplinary care is recognised and osteopathy shall continue to develop and strengthen as the manual healthcare of choice for all Indians.
