The Status of Osteopathy:

Osteopathy as a Health Service

Osteopathy emphasizes the principle of holistic treatment of the whole body. The paradigm in medicine changes completely when practitioners focus on facilitating self-regulation of the body  rather than “fixing” it. This pivoting point gives insights to other possible treatment approaches for patients who have hit a roadblock in their healing process and offers patients options in their journey to recovery.

Because Osteopathy can help patients with a wider spectrum of medical conditions, it allows collaboration among osteopaths, medical doctors and allied health practitioners especially with the changing landscape of healthcare and the way we confront diseases.

Status of Recognition

While osteopathy remains unregulated under the Ministry of Health here in Singapore, awareness of osteopathy and demand for it has been on the rise, in particular among expatriates from the United States and continental Europe. I believe osteopathy will continue to remain a fortress of hope and support for patients looking for better quality of living.
