The Status of Osteopathy:

Osteopathy as a Health Service

One can seek osteopathic treatment for arthritis, back pain, headaches, joint pains, reproductive system issues, digestive issues, and postural problems. Treatment can also improve sleep cycles and various symptoms of the nervous, circulatory, pulmonary and lymphatic systems.

Osteopathy is not a general treatment in Japan. It is often used for relaxation and small face correction.  The blend of hands on approach and drugless therapy in Osteopathy is a radical element in the field of health services.

Status of Recognition

It is not in the process of recognition. but It is used by traditional medical therapists so perhaps we will see some significant results in 20 years.

Japanese cultural understanding about natural remedies takes time.  Because Seitai (traditional bone setting) and acupuncture therapies are so strong they have a national qualification which adds to their legitimacy in the public at large.
